Staff

Staff    Info: One of the classic martial arts weapons, the staff is often neglected in main systems. Though not as common or readily available as other weapons in the right hands the staff can be one of the most useful weapons used in the martial arts.

   Parts: Though relatively simple in construction one should note the various parts, or sections, of the staff and how to use them effectively. The ends, or tips, are used for stabbing motions while the outer 1/3's are used for striking and blocking.

   Concepts: The staff lends itself to a variety of uses. It's length lends itself well to both offense and defense since it allows you to keep your distance from your opponent(s). At close range however the staff is equally as effective by allowing for takedowns and numerous strikes with a tremendous amount of force.
