Nunchaku

   Info: Another classic Japanese weapon made famous in Hollywood movies the Nunchaku are perhaps the most unique weapon in the martial artist arsenal. The Nunchaku are formidable weapons at any range and can be used as a pair or individually.

   Parts: Nunchaku consist of two handles, generally made of wood, connected by a cord or chain. Importance should be placed on the length of the handles and cord/chain as both factors directly impact the users ability to manipulate the weapon(s). The key difference in the cord or chain is, to most, personal preferrence. Many find the chain lacks the fluidity of the cord while others feel the cord will wear and break with use.

   Concepts: In addition to strikes the main emphasis when using Nunchaku should be manipulation of the weapon (i.e. changing angles, chambering, bring the weapon to bear). In addition one should be aware of the defensive possibilites of the Nunchaku when using the cord/chain.
